Patients need to be NBM from midnight/2am the latest before surgery (including milky drinks), clear fluids from 6am. Make sure they have enough IV fluids written up for this period

Group and Save: Will need two valid samples (If one is already on system, only one fresh one is needed - but, double check with blood bank)

Clotting and INR

COVID (nudge) test: Ask nurses to do one in good time

Possibly a crossmatch request to the lab (check with your registrar if and how many units need requesting to be on standby for the surgery)

Anaesthetic review – bleep the Anaesthetics SHO (bleep 181) to arrange

Post-operative bloods for the next day (FBC, CRP, U&Es, LFTs)
